Dear Parents/Guardians, As of June 13, 2019, the New York State Legislature passed, and Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a major update to Public Health Law 2164 which only allows for medical exemptions from immunizations only. Accordingly, Cornell Cooperative Extension/4H Day and Overnight camps will no longer be able to accept any exemption other than a doctor issued medical exemption for vaccinations to help ensure public health and safety. At this time, we are still in the process of reviewing all health forms submitted for enrolled campers.

Over the past few years, we've seen an increase in the amount of candy/snacks being brought to camp. This issue culminated in 2017 when we found ourselves storing garbage bags of snacks/candy in the camp office. Things had clearly gotten out of hand. Last year we decided to take action and ask that no more than a gallon ziplock be sent to camp. This seemed to work ok, and combined with some feedback left us with a clearer vision of where snacks fit into camp life.  Our snack lockers are an opportunity to bring a small comfort from home.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. It is celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and other widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

This year #GivingTuesday will be celebrated on December 3rd, 2024.

Many of the classes offered at 4-H Camp Shankitunk are popular choices among campers young and old.  While we would love to offer every class each period, this is just not possible.  Sometimes classes fill up, and we can't squeeze any additional campers in. This is for the safety of all campers and staff as well as due to DOH regulations in certain classes.

We invite our community, Camp Alumni, 4-Hers, and anyone else who is willing to join us in setting up camp for the summer. Our maintenance team does an amazing job, but an extra set of hands is always appreciated at Camp. Come for an hour or the whole time. Great community service opportunity.  We hope you'll make attending an annual tradition each spring.
